Need a Reminder About How Many Anti-Feminist “Liberals” There Are?

For the feminist part of the excercise, go read Gloria Steinem’s essay at Alternet entitled   “Why Being a Feminist Does Not Mean Backing All Women.” Then for the backlash, read the appended comments. Yeesh.

Yes, I read this as well. Pretty awful.

Quite seperate from this, I don’t know why, but I’ve never really taken to AlterNet. Part of it is aesthetic — I don’t like the way it feels cluttered at the top, and the way the comment threads collapse, which reminds me of Live Journal. But I also feel it’s a bit too professional and mainstream. Doesn’t feel like a blog to me and that’s my main priority…

I agree there is something strange about Alternet. It is trying too hard to blend blogging and actual journalism, maybe?

  3. Sour Duck says:

Yes, I think that’s it. Yet there’s something of the Usenet about it…

Anyways can’t really articulte why — but I really should look at it more often.
