		<description>I&#039;m not saying I disagree completely, but I&#039;m wondering if it&#039;s just that she&#039;s an Obama appointee. Even if Sotomayor does not have a very liberal record, I&#039;m not convinced that it&#039;s a conservative one either - the article you linked to seems to be saying, more than anything else, that she is very much &quot;a mainstream jurist.&quot; It doesn&#039;t say enough to convince me she has a conservative slant. Is it possible that the Republicans are fixating on the &quot;wise latina&quot; remark because there&#039;s just not very much else to focus on? The issues they raise certainly could imply sexism/racism, but I&#039;m more inclined to think this is simply politics as usual. Would we really expect any Obama appointee to get easy treatment from the Republicans?</description>
