The Supposedly Liberal Dood Blogs Outdo Themselves

Ugh. I was going to do a link round up but one is all I have the stomach for. I need some time away from the Internet today. Comments may be very slow to post, sorry.

–Ann Bartow

ETA: The above (which used to link to the post at Kos arguing that Sarah Palin had lied about her fifth child) is a link to nowhere now. Retraction? Apology? Of course not. But at least the post is down.

I’ve seen that same speculation in a few other places. I had the same reaction as you, Ann. Pass the aspirin and the Pepto-Bismol.

I agree. However, as a new reader of the FeministLawProf blog and a student of feminism. I am trying sincerely to understand the wisdom of providing the link to this offensive story, which only feeds the tiger. Especially when the on- and off-line media are full of thoughtful articles on this historic appointment from every possible perspective. Is the purpose to expose the offensive behavior so that it can be thoughtfully deconstructed? I do greatly appreciate the enormous amount of time/physical and emotional energy that this Blog requires/consumes especially during election years . . . Thanks in advance for your thoughts and wisdom.

Isn’t this Rush Limbaugh calling Chelsea a dog all over again, except these d00ds have a smaller and more rabid audience?

This is pathetic. My stomach looks like that, and I’m not pregnant. Blech.

Francine, “Daily Kos” is viewed by some as the most important Democratic blog. I don’t usually link to conservative blogs because I don’t expect to agree with the sentiments there. Democrats, however are ostensibly our allies. I think we need to pay attention to what they do.

  5. There has been unbelievable amounts of vile, hateful things written about Palin on Daily Kos. It is going to be a really long 65 days until the election. Those folks of good will, like here at FLP, have to continue to be a place of refuge for the sane people in the blogosphere. Also, please someone who is a member of Daily Kos write a diary condemning this shameful, sexist behavior.

  6. Francine Lipman says:

Sadly, the outrageous story linked and “most important Democratic blog” should/must be mutually exclusive. I guess THAT is the point of the your post . . . OK Eric pass the aspirin and Pepto-Bismol . . .

  7. Ann Bartow says:

Danielle, you said it. You too, Francine. No woman is safe from the sexism of those guys, not Hillary Clinton, not Michelle Obama, not Sarah Palin. How do we get through to them? I wish I knew.

Francine, Eric, Danielle, Ann, and all at FLP and blogs of similar vein……..Thanks for your investment in exploratory, educating, kick-ass web!
The tip of the mysogenistic iceburg is melting. The exposed remaining bulk will take a lot of heat to vanquish I’m afraid. This election cycle seems to be pivital in showing where to build the fires. The time to be clear in where the truth is is always now. But the use of spin is tricky to combat, or refrain from. Exposing it is needed from somewhere. This blog is a great place to get direction. I wonder if opinion, truth, speculation, and such should require a label? Of course, aren’t those the tools of debate and coercion? If people are warned, maybe the effect would be a more honest, less subversive conversation. I know, I’m a DREAMER, but I’m not the only one. That said…pass the magic herbs, I need to shore up…
